چکیده

• Planning the coordinated motion of a group of agents who wish to move to a specified location amidst many obstacles • Planning the motion of an articulated skeletal model subject to constraints, such as maintaining hand contact with a door handle or avoiding collisions while passing through through a narrow passageway • Planning the motion of a character while navigating through a dense crowd of other moving people (who have their own destinations), or planning motion either to evade or to pursue the player • Planning ad hoc motions, like that of a mountain climber jumping over boulders or climbing up the side of a cliff

CMSC 425 Dave Mount CMSC 425 : Lecture 13 Motion Planning : Basic Concepts Tuesday , Apr 11 , 2017

Configuration Spaces: To begin, let us consider the problem of planning the motion of a single agent among a collection of obstacles. Since the techniques that we will be discussing originated in the field of robotics, henceforth we will usually refer to a moving agent as a “robot”. The environment in which the agent operates is called its workspace, which consists of a collection of geometric ...

CMSC 425 Dave Mount CMSC 425 : Lecture 4 Geometry and Geometric Programming

Such basic geometric problems are fundamental to computer graphics, and over the next few lectures, our goal will be to present the tools needed to answer these sorts of questions. (By the way, a good source of information on how to solve these problems is the series of books entitled “Graphics Gems”. Each book is a collection of many simple graphics problems and provides algorithms for solving...

CMSC 425 Dave Mount CMSC 425 : Lecture 5 Drawing in OpenGL : Transformations Thursday

Complex Drawing in OpenGL: So far we have discussed how to draw simple 2-dimensional objects using OpenGL. Suppose that we want to draw more complex scenes. For example, we want to draw objects that move and rotate or to change the projection. We could do this by computing (ourselves) the coordinates of the transformed vertices. However, this would be inconvenient for us. It would also be ineff...

CMSC 425 : Lecture 15 Motion Planning : Multiple Agent Motion

Reading: Today’s material is drawn from a variety of sources. Some of the material on particle systems is drawn from lecture notes by Alex Benton from the University of Cambridge and the classic paper “Particle Systems: A Technique for Modeling a Class of Fuzzy Objects,” by W. T. Reeves, ACM Transactions on Graphics, 2, 1983, 91–108. The material on flocking is based in part on C. W. Reynolds, ...

Mount CMSC 425 : Lecture 6 Affine Transformations and Rotations Thursday

Affine Transformations: So far we have been stepping through the basic elements of geometric programming. We have discussed points, vectors, and their operations, and coordinate frames and how to change the representation of points and vectors from one frame to another. Our next topic involves how to map points from one place to another. Suppose you want to draw an animation of a spinning ball....
